Brazil's iron ore export volume amounted to 23.35 million mt in April this year, increasing 3.4 percent compared to March and down by 8.6 percent compared to the same month of 2012, according to the preliminary information released by the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade. Brazil's iron ore export value in April was up 1.4 percent compared to the previous month, and fell by 1.2 percent compared to the same month of 2012, totaling $2.5 billion.
In April, Brazil's export volume of semi-finished products of iron and steel amounted to 524,700 mt, increasing three percent compared to the previous month and down 13.8 percent compared to the same month of 2012, while these exports were valued at $269 million, increasing by four percent compared to March and down 25.9 percent year on year.
Meanwhile, in April Brazil's flat steel exports totaled 180,700 metric tons, increasing 49.3 percent over March and up 60.7 percent year on year. The revenue generated by these exports in April totaled $142 million, up 47.3 percent month on month and up 25.8 percent over the April 2012 level.
