German Automaker Daimler Said It Will Build The Fully Electric Smart Escooter

German automaker Daimler said it will build the fully electric Smart eScooter, for which the company says design is yet to be finalized.

The company, however, did not announce pricing, but said that it will be intended for customers who as yet have no driver's license for cars.

According to media sources, the 2010 concept featured the integration of smartphones via a specially designed cradle in the center of the handlebars, and a smart drive kit app that includes speedometer, range indicator and a navigation system.

The eScooter concept is powered by a 4kW electric motor embedded in the rear wheel hub and includes a lithium-ion battery pack which can be rechared in 3-5 hours and 13-inch tires

The concept also featured antilock brakes and blind-spot assist, and has interchangeable plastic body panels.

Daimler is planning to launch the eScooter in 2014, reports insideline.com.
