FGSCDA Has Developed a Software

Federation of Gujarat State Chemist and Druggist Association (FGSCDA) in India, has developed a software to help provide pharmacists to get all the requisite information on any given drug.

The software, which contains data on approximately 50,000 brands and their properties, will provide the information and components of the product along with its ingredients, strength, approximate price, indication and contra indications.

Federation of Gujarat State Chemist & Druggist Association secretary Pradip Trivedi said the agency has already applied for patent for the software in the country.

"This will also promote active involvement from the chemists and druggist while dispensing the drugs to the patients since it is their duty to provide counselling services to the patients while dispensing medicines," Trivedi added.

"Sometime two drugs cannot be or should not be taken together, but patients are not aware of it.

"However with the help of this software, chemists can now give the details of the drugs along with any contra-indications, if any, to the patients by way of print out which they can refer to when they take the medicines."
