Octal, an Oman-based manufacturer of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) resins and integrated PET sheets, will supply DPET/PE trays to Saudi Arabia-based foods major Almarai.
Almarai will use the DPET/PE trays in the packaging of its poultry product range Alyoum, by replacing traditional polypropylene/polyethylene containers and providing a recyclable alternative.
Commenting on the supply, Octal chief operating officer William J. Barenberg Jr said, "Until recently, meat and poultry processors widely used inefficient packaging.
"Partnering with large food and beverage producers such as Almarai demonstrates the reputation our products hold."
Octal claims that DPET/PE is currently being used in about 52 countries and is expected to be expanded to other poultry brands.
The company's products are used in various markets, including meat and cheese, bakery and produce, yogurt, and consumer products packaging, as well as form, fill, and seal packaging.
