Nissan Motor will carry out tests of its electric commercial vehicle, e-NV200, in the Tochigi prefecture's rural areas of Japan.
The e-NV200 test vehicle to be used is based on Nissan's multi-purpose compact van, NV200 and will follow rural routes in Tochigi Prefecture.
According to Nissan, the field test will verify the convenience of electric vehicles from the viewpoint of rechargability at homes in agricultural communities.
Nissan has already tested the e-NV200 with several companies in 2012 that include AEON Retail, FedEx Express in Japan and British Gas in Europe.
The company said it will carry out additional tests on how to recharge electric vehicles in rural places by the end of this fiscal year.
In July 2012, FedEx Express together with Nissan Motor had revealed its plans to start driving tests of the e-NV200 electric vehicle in Yokohama Area from mid-July 2012.
