German carmaker Opel has unveiled the new Astra line of vehicles, which include a new sedan, the five-door variant, the Sports Tourer station wagon and the three-door GTC coupé as well as an OPC version.
Opel said that the new Astra OPC is powered by 2.0 turbocharged direct injection gasoline engine, offering an output of 280hp and a 400Nm torque.
It can achieve a top speed 250 km/h and rev up from 0 to 100 km/h in about 6.0 seconds.
The diesel variant of Astra including Astra five-door, the Sports Tourer and the GTC will be powered by the new 2.0 BiTurbo CDTI which generates an output of 195hp and 400 Nm of torque.
Opel has also enhanced the output of its 1.4litre turbocharged gasoline unit which will deliver 140 hp, and an extra 10% torque of about 220 Nm.
The new GTC and OPC models are equipped with HiPerStruts (High Performance Struts) on the front wheel suspensions which improve grip, enhance cornering power and reduce torque steer.
Other assistance systems equipped in the new line-up models include the rear view camera, advanced park assist, side blind spot alert, a radar-based adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning (LDW), following distance indication (FDI) and forward collision alert (FCA).
According to the carmaker, the new Astra will be on sale at a starting price of EUR16,770 for the five-door, while the new four-door sedan with a 1.4 liter gasoline engine will be on sale from EUR18,270.
