FESPA Fabric 2013 is calling for budding creative designers, garment decorators and t-shirt printers to get involved to showcase their talents!
Following its success at FESPA Fabric 2012, FESPA’s t-shirt design competition - Design-a-Tee - will make its journey to FESPA Fabric in London this year, welcoming design entries from all areas within the garment community.
The competition forms part of FESPA Fabric 2013 pre-event marketing campaign to engage with and also showcase the design capabilities and opportunities that garment print and decoration presents. The aim is for entrants to realise the design potential of this vibrant sector and to get their creative juices flowing.
Imagination is the only limitation! The only stipulation is that the design entry should include at least one of the following: FESPA Fabric girl image, Fly FESPA Fabric icon and the FESPA Fabric logo.
With technology continually developing and the wide range of textile print and garment decoration techniques available, applicants are encouraged to be as artistic as possible to take home the grand prize. With €2,000 up for grabs for the best design, there’s even more incentive to bag this year’s title, the winner will also receive a 12 months free subscription to DecoNetwork, and their design framed and gifts from the competitions’ sponsors Brother and Fruit of the Loom.
Second and third place will also receive a cash prize of €720 and €250 respectively, as well as their design presented in a frame and gifts from the sponsors.
All design entries must be submitted here by Friday 3 May 2013. The designs will be uploaded onto the FESPA Design-a-Tee competition homepage for the public to vote for their favourite.
The top 10 designs will be selected for the final round of voting which begins on the 15th May 2013. Voting will continue during FESPA 2013 (25 – 29 June 2013) and the winner will be announced at the FESPA Stand (H60N) on Day 4 of the show, Friday 28th June at 11am.
Last year’s winning entry was designed by Veronique Verdryck, PAS Belgium. Veronique comments on her 2012 design: "The inspiration was there with the given task to create a t-shirt design with the three FESPA elements: van, logo and girl. It was an inspirational challenge, to combine the elements and turn it into a fashionable t-shirt print.”
FESPA Marketing Manager Lynda Sutton comments, “The 2012 t-shirt competition proved a huge success and we’re delighted to bring the Design-a-Tee competition to the 2013 show. One of the world’s fashion capitals, London is home to some of the world’s best fashion colleges and a booming design industry. The textile industry contributes nearly £21bn to the British economy and with high energy creative areas such as Hoxton and Soho, you’ll certainly see why. We’re hoping to see eye-catching and innovative designs from Londoners, as well as from around the globe in this years’ competition.”
FESPA Fabric, FESPA’s ‘show within a show’, will occupy 12,000m2 of FESPA 2013’s floor space, and with over 100 exhibitors showing textile printing applications it is specifically designed to meet the needs of garment printers and decorators. Visitors can discover state-of-the-art machinery, techniques, applications and solutions for garment decoration and textile printing as well as hands-on practical workshops and theory sessions from industry experts in The Pilot’s Briefing Zone.
