The sockets are purpose designed to ensure reliable connections between the packaged LED and socket in the electrical, mechanical, thermal, and optical domains. The family includes products with a variety of features such as reflective surfaces for maximum light extraction, mechanical designs that support secondary optics and reflectors, and wiring retention and routing features.

TE Connectivity designs each of the products in the families for specific applications. In aggregate, the family supports a range of applications including spotlights, downlights, retrofit lamps, and directional lighting for applications such as retail and restaurants.

The Luxeon H family is a high-voltage LED product line that targets applications such as space-constrained retrofit lamps. The Luxeon K arrays are high-light-output products than span 400 to 4000 lm for application such as downlights. The Luxeon S family of arrays use a nine LED mix to deliver narrow binning for tight color control.

"LED technology is driving a customer shift to electronics and we see ourselves as an enabler to make this transformation easier and more productive," said Bart Broeren, global product manager of TE Intelligent Buildings. "The combination of TE and Philips Lumileds technology is very powerful for our customers."
