The Textile Industry in Pakistan Is Very Developed

Stressing on the need for boosting the textile industry, which has huge employment generation potential, Deputy Chief Minister of Indian state of Punjab, Sukhbir Singh Badal said the textile industries of both the Indian state of Punjab as well as the Pakistani Punjab province should join hands and add to each other's strengths.

Speaking at a function of All Pakistan Textile Manufacturer's Association (APTMA) in Lahore, Mr. Badal said the textile industry in Pakistan is a very developed one and it contributes over 70 percent to the country's overall exports.
 
Further, acclaiming the improved trade relations between the two nations, Mr. Badal called on APTMA representatives to visit his state to explore potentials of textile industry and to ponder on prospects of cooperation with the Indian textile firms.
 
He said this is highly desired by majority of people in both the countries, and Governments of both nations will have to honour the wishes of the people.
 
He also said the government is trying to actively trying to set up a Textile Park in Malwa region of Indian Punjab and urged Pakistani textile entrepreneurs to forge joint ventures with their Indian counterparts to establish manufacturing units in the park.
