Korean Govt Has Extended US$ 5 Million Help to The Textile University of Faisalabad

Aiming to help Pakistan introduce reforms in its key textile sector, South Korean Government has extended US$ 5 million help to the Textile University of Faisalabad to enable it to start new courses on latest trends in textiles.

Contributing about 57 percent to the country's overall exports, textiles is one of the key industries of Pakistan, and the South Korean Government's gesture would prove to be of great help in its upgradation, Pakistan Federal Secretary Textiles, Shahid Rashid said while addressing Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA) members.
 
He informed that the South Korean Government has also set up an institute with latest machines and other infrastructural facilities in Karachi, where the work in respect of a Textile City is also on the verge of completion. 
 
He further said that formalities regarding land and funds for setting up a high-tech Cotton Ginning Research Institute in Multan are completed.
 
He added that the Textile Ministry has embarked on a manpower training project in association with the International Labour Organization (ILO).
 
Lastly, Mr. Rashid said the Federal Government has finalized the draft of the first Cotton Policy, and the same would soon be provided to PCGA and other industry stakeholders.
