Nissan Has Opened a New Public Quick-Charging Station for Electric Vehicles in America

Japanese automobile manufacturer Nissan has opened a new public quick-charging station for electric vehicles(EVs)in Colonia Roma,Mexico,Latin America.

The new high-tech station will enable EVs to charge their batteries to 80%capacity in an average time of 30 minutes.

Additionally,the company is also planning to set up three public charging stations in Mexico City,eight in Aguascalientes and other 50 locations,including Nissan's corporate offices and three dealers'facilities.

Nissan Mexico president and general manager Jose Luis Valls said:"Our intention is to donate six additional charging stations in other cities around the country,helping to build EV charging station corridors that complement existing infrastructure and the resources available at users'homes."

Nissan Mexicana launched its first pilot programme for electric vehicles in Mexico City in 2011,followed by a similar programme in the state of Aguascalientes in 2012.

In 2012,the company has launched the Nissan LEAF Ambassador Program where opinion leaders test drive the EV in their daily lives,provide feedback and help spread awareness on benefits of this technology for México.

Power 88(P88),Nissan′s mid-term strategic global plan,includes the objective of driving leadership in electric vehicles and launch three new EVs,besides the Nissan LEAF.
