India-based Lupin's subsidiary Lupin Pharmaceuticals has received final approval for Kurvelo tablets from the US Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) to market a generic version of Teva Nordette tablets.
The tablet, which is the AB-rated generic equivalent of Nordette, is a Levonorgestrel and Ethinyl estradiol combined oral contraceptive used to prevent pregnancy.
Kurvelo tablets are being marketed by the company in 21 light orange colored active tablets containing 0.15 mg Levonorgestrel and 0.03 mg Ethinyl estradiol and seven pink inert tablets (without hormones).
Nordette tablets of Teva have net sales of $59m in US as of June 2012.
