Wargaming, the developer of award-winning massively multiplayer online (MMO) game World of Tanks, is set to expand its data centres across Europe.
The games developer already uses Equinix data centres in Amsterdam, but looks to prepare for its upcoming titles World of Warplanes and World of Warships by expanding its servers into Equinix's Campus Kleyer data centre in Frankfurt, Germany.
The move will allow Wargaming to cater for a big influx of new players.
"The expansion into Equinix's Campus Kleyer data centre in Frankfurt was the next logical step in our commitment to providing the best possible experience for our players," said Andre Reitenbach, managing director of Wargaming Interactive GmbH.
"Equinix Amsterdam proved it could deliver a reliable, reduced latency service helping us to drive a better gaming experience and give us an edge against our MMO gaming competitors," he continued, adding that Frankfurt's central location makes Campus Kleyer an excellent site for the data centre.
"Frankfurt is the most important interconnection hub for networks throughput in Europe and locating there provides access to all the major providers and peering partners, allowing us to optimise connectivity to all gaming markets in Western and Eastern Europe."
The move will allow players of World of Tanks and other Wargaming titles to enjoy the experience with reduced latency and lag.
