The 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class has been locally unveiled at the Australian International Concours d’Elegance, the RACV’s
MotorClassica event in Melbourne.
The new S-Class will go on sale locally next month but pricing and specification levels are yet to be confirmed. The range will launch with S350 diesel, S500 and S63 AMG with the S300 hybrid, S350 petrol and other variants to follow later.
Mercedes-Benz Australia’s senior manager of corporate communications, David McCarthy, said S-Class sales are expected to grow substantially next year. Noting that sales of the current generation had been affected by the Porsche Panamera and the imminent arrival of the new S-class.
So far this year (January to September) Mercedes-Benz has sold 66 S-Class vehicles in Australia, one behind the Porsche Panamera and 22 behind the BMW 7 Series, which has become popular with high-end chauffeur companies.
V12 lovers will be pleased the S600 arrives alongside the Mercedes-Benz S-Class coupe in 2015. The S-Class coupe will be the only S-Class available as an S65 AMG.
