A Burlington Bearings Company Celebrated Turning 100 in Style Last Saturday

A Burlington bearings company celebrated turning 100 in style last Saturday with a birthday party attended by the mayor and about 250 customers, suppliers, retirees and friends. Thordon Bearings, located at 3225 Mainway, was originally formed by Army major George J. Thomson along with brother, William, as an industrial distribution business in Hamilton in 1911. The brothers took in partner Earl Gordon in 1916 to become Thomson-Gordon. In 1967, present owner, Sandy Thomson, grandson of George, took over the business, which will eventually be run by his stepdaughter, Anna Galoni. The company moved to Burlington in 1979 and employs 100 workers. It designs and manufactures non-polluting bearing and shaft-line products for the global marine, clean power generation, pump, offshore and industrial markets. It has a worldwide network in more than 100 countries. Source: Blog. Bearingunion. Com
