Abdu Bulama, minister of science and technology in the Nigerian government spoke about creating a strong partnership between his ministry and Mosanto, a producer of Bt cotton seeds.
This will help in reviving the declining cotton industry in Nigeria, he said.
According to the minister, Mosanto's technological innovations in biotechnology cotton can help Nigeria to revive its own cotton industry.
The minister said this while receiving Notalia Voruz, commerical lead (West Africa) at Mosanto and other members of the delegation at his office.
“The partnership would be in three major areas including strengthening the biotechnology sector, capacity building through technology transfer and helping farmers with improved seed production,” Bulama informed.
He was full of appreciation for Mosanto and said that during his visit to its headquarters, he got an opportunity to see the overall technological innovations which can help develop Nigeria's agriculture. (AR)
