It’s reported that Brazilian Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (Usiminas) announced to supply special heavy plates to energy tubular maker TenarisConfab for a Petrobras project to explore oil extraction in Brazil's deep-sea pre-salt layer accordingly.
The company was able to produced heavy plate with thickness more than 17mm which is mostly for heavy duty applications that as state-of-the-art technology in the market so far.
Meanwhile, Usiminas has already invested approximately US$266 million in the Usiminas's CLC technology for the production of heavy plates in 2010 and the company has already delivered more than 23,000 tons of heavy plates so far.
