Of the 20-largest global crystalline silicon solar cell makers, 10 China-based and seven Taiwan-based makers are expected to see increasing competition because global production capacity is estimated to exceed global demand in 2015, according to industry sources.
While global PV demand in 2015 will increase to 50GWp, global solar cell production capacity is estimated at 55-60GWp of which China-based makers will account for 55% and Taiwan-based ones 20%, the sources said.
The 10 largest China-based makers include Yingli Green Energy Holding, JA Solar Holdings, Trina Solar, Jinko Solar, Suntech Power Holdings, Hareon Solar and CSI, while the seven largest Taiwan-based ones include Motech Industries, Neo Solar Power, Gintech Energy and Solartech Energy.
