Belarus-based Byelorussian Steel Works (BMZ) has stated that in October this year its crude steel production declined by 44.5 percent year on year to 131,274 mt, while its finished steel product output decreased by 32.1 percent year on year to 135,080 mt. In the given month, steel pipe production increased by 17 percent compared to October 2012 to 12,532 mt.
In the January-October period, BMZ saw a 3.4 percent year-on-year decline in its finished steel product output to 1.829 million mt, while its crude steel production went down by 15.2 percent year on year to 1.931 million mt. In the January-October period of the current year, BMZ produced 110,505 mt of steel pipes, up five percent compared to the same period last year.
In October this year, BMZ shipped 136,124 mt of steel products, down 43.6 percent year on year. In January-October, BMZ's shipments of steel products decreased by 12.2 percent year on year to 1.905 million mt.
