Swedish Basic Metal Industry Decreased by Five Percent in Sept From Aug

In Sweden, industrial production was unchanged in September this year compared to August and fell 0.9 percent year on year in working day-adjusted figures, according to Statistics Sweden (SCB). The SCB said that development remained mixed within two sub-sectors; the petroleum industry indicated a major decline, while the electronics industry showed a significant rise in September, year on year.

On month-on-month basis, new orders for Swedish industry registered a slight decrease of 2.9 percent in September. In September, new orders also decreased by 2.9 percent in working day-adjusted figures compared to the same month of the previous year.

On the other hand, the production index for the Swedish basic metal industry decreased by five percent in September this year compared to the previous month, while production of the country's basic metal industry decreased by 2.1 percent year on year. The country's manufacture of fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment output, increased by 0.1 month on month and decreased by 1.1 percent compared to September 2012.

On the other hand, in September new orders for basic metals in Sweden decreased 11.6 percent compared to the same month of the previous year. Meanwhile, new orders for the Swedish fabricated metal products industry, except machinery and equipment, decreased by 17.7 percent in September on year-on-year basis.
