LED epitaxial wafer and chip maker Genesis Photonics expects consolidated revenues for the fourth quarter of 2014 to decrease on quarter by 10-15% and sales for the first quarter of 2015 to increase by about 10%, according to the company.
Genesis Photonics specializes in flip chips used to backlight smartphones and LCD TVs as well as in LED street lamps and automotive lights. In addition to China-based smartphone vendors, Genesis Photonics began shipments of flip chips to Japan-based ones in the fourth quarter, Genesis Photonics said.
Flip chips are used in high-power backlight units and LED lighting products currently, and are expected to be additionally used in mid-power models in 2015 and low-power models in 2016, Genesis Photonics indicated.
Genesis Photonics posted consolidated revenues of NT$255 million (US$8.3 million) for November, slipping by 4.84% on month and by 34.07% on year, and sales of NT$3.791 billion for January-November, growing by 4.63% on year.
