Press Conference Was Addressed by Commerce Inaugurated NTC Young Designer Hunt

National Textile Corporation Limited (NTC) had organized a press conference at The Oberoi, New Delhi to announce commencement of the Young Designer Hunt by NTC, the biggest search for the most talented designers across the Nation. The press conference was addressed by Hon'ble Union Minister of Commerce, Industry and Textiles Shri Anand Sharma who inaugurated NTC Young Designer Hunt.

Speaking at the event, Shri Anand Sharma said, “India is a country with a rich heritage. India was the first country to introduce textiles. Even in Europe, most of the cotton was supplied by Indians. Today we are a nation of young, aspiring youth. We have to believe in ourselves. We have to built and improve upon what we have. In my mind, it's time to create and promote Brand India so that the world recognises what has been created in this country. We have invested several decades in making institutions for excellence. National Institute of Design is one of the globally well-recognised institutions.”

He added, “You cannot export unless you focus on individual markets. Why can't our brands be sold in global stores? Why is there an aspiration for some global fashion brands? The reason is that they have been institutionalised under a framework.

Through this initiative, many young designers will get an opportunity to arrive at a higher level. This designer hunt will not only help the young designers in showcasing their creativity but will also help NTC in fulfilling its commitment of transforming itself into a world class, eco-friendly, integrated textile corporation.

NTC is all set to add a new dimension to the rich tradition of Indian textile industry. This hunt will not only set the right tone for the organization but also help the young talents in bringing out their new creative ideas in this industry.

This designer hunt launched by NTC will be monitored by India’s ace global designer Raghavendra Rathore. He will not only be supervising the hunt but will personally train the young designers. He is best known for his diversity of design which creates the right mix of aesthetics, fashion and tradition.

Mr. Rathore feels that the efforts that have been put into this talent hunt by NTC will be beautifully nurtured into creating a new generation of designers to work for NTC and for the future of India. This is an excellent opportunity, an opportunity like this never existed in times when Mr. Rathore was younger which has been provided by NTC for people to grow and come out with their hidden creative talent.

The Young Designer Hunt will choose designers that will work with the company in its new global retail offering: Brand India which is a golden opportunity for the fresh designers to start off and take forward their career in this industry.
