Iron Ore Shipments From Australia's Port Hedland Increased by 4.4 Percent

In April of the current year, iron ore shipments from Australia's Port Hedland increased by 4.4 percent compared to March and were up 63.75 percent year on year, totaling 26 million metric tons.

According to the information released by the Port Authority, in April iron ore shipments made from Port Hedland to China amounted to 19.3 million metric tons, increasing by one percent compared to March and up 72.2 percent compared to the same month of the previous year. South Korea and Japan followed China in April this year with 2.57 million mt and 2.56 million mt respectively.

Port Hedland handles production from mines owned by BHP Billiton, Atlas Iron and Fortescue Metals Group in the iron ore-rich Pilbara region of Western Australia.
