Co-Op, Is Recalling Truly Irresistible as The Product Bears Incorrect Allergy Information

Co-op, a UK-based retail chain, is recalling two batches of Truly Irresistible Fairtrade Peruvian Dark Chocolate with Dried Sweetened Cranberries as the product bears incorrect allergy information, according to the Food Standards Agency (FSA).

FSA noted that the affected products contain milk chocolate instead of dark chocolate. People who are allergic or intolerant to milk can experience a severe reaction if they consume this product.

The product being withdrawn is Co-operative Truly Irresistible Fairtrade Peruvian Dark Chocolate with Dried Sweetened Cranberries, with best before dates of 1 February 2013 and 2 February 2013.

Co-op has removed the affected products from sale. It will contact the relevant allergy support organizations, which will explain to their members the reason for the withdrawal. Customer notices will be displayed in stores, explaining the reason behind the recall of the product.

No other Co-op products are known to be affected.
