According to report of the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), the US steel import permit applications for My totaled 2.8 million net tons, rising by 4% from 2.697 million net tons in April and increasing by 2% in comparison of 2.738 million net tons in the same period of a year ago.
In May, the import permit applications for finished steel totaled 2.105 million net tons, down by 2% from the final import total of 2.145 million tons in April.
In the first five months of this year, the country’s imports of steel and finished steel totaled 13.234 million net tons and 10.341 million net tons respectively, falling by 11% and 9% year on year.
