Tire Pros Francorp (Tire Pros), a wholly owned subsidiary of American Tire Distributors, Inc. (ATD), and Boundless Playgrounds, a nonprofit developer of inclusive playgrounds, have opened new Tread Town playgrounds in Massillon, Ohio, and Pasco, Wash.
The Tire Pros subsidiary of ATD and local Tire Pros dealers supported the playgrounds with a $100,000 contribution.
A grand opening event was held on Sept. 19 at the new Tread Town playground at Reservoir Park in Massillon. A week later, Tire Pros and locally-owned Tri-Cities Battery and Tire Pros held a grand opening event to open a Tread Town playground at Memorial Park in Pasco.
These two Tread Towns mark the sixth and seventh Boundless Playgrounds opened nationally by American Tire Distributors since 2009. The previous five are located in Lakewood, Calif.; Jackson, Miss.; Savannah, Ga.; Memphis, Tenn.; and Huntersville, N.C.
The “Tread Town” Boundless Playgrounds allow children with and without disabilities to play together. Much of Tread Town’s foundation is constructed from recycled rubber including approximately 400 recycled tires per playground.
“Tread Town playgrounds provide safe, positive places for all children to play, learn and thrive,” says Dan Brown, president of Tire Pros. “We are proud to open our sixth and seventh Tread Towns nationally and partner with our local Tire Pros dealers – Discount Tire Outlet Tire Pros and Tri-Cities Battery & Tire Pros – to make these important contributions back into the local communities in which we operate.”
