SIG Combibloc Introduced The New Heat-Resistant Combisafe Carton Pack

Carton packaging and filling machines supplier SIG Combibloc has introduced the new heat-resistant combisafe carton pack, an additional long life food packaging technology.

According to the company, combisafe can be sterilized in an autoclave and complements the company's existing range of aseptic carton systems for dairy, juice and liquid food products.

In the UK, combisafe, which extends the scope of food products to those containing chunky particulates, is currently used in a range of retailer own label products such as organic beans and pulses, passata and chopped tomatoes.

Using modular filling units including multi-head weighers, the retortable carton packaging offers the manufacturer flexible and accurate filling options. It also offers the option of fully rotational sterilization during the autoclave process.

The packaging is available in pack sizes ranging from 200ml, 300ml, 400ml and 500ml. It has a rectangular shape, enabling manufacturers and retailers to benefit from increasing efficiency of storage, transportation and use of shelf space in the supply chain.

The top of combisafe carton can be torn off easily by consumers without the use of scissors.

SIG Combibloc key account manager Imelda Harrington said, "combisafe makes it possible to fill chunkier food products such as beans and pulses into carton packs, offering a safe and secure alternative to glass, cans or pouches."

Claimed to be made from up to 75% renewable raw materials, combisafe carton packs can be recycled.
