Brazil's Motor Vehicle Output Decreased by 8.4 Percent in Jan-Mar

Brazil's motor vehicle output in March this year decreased by 3.6 percent from the previous month and fell by 17.6 percent year on year to 271,217 units (excluding agricultural vehicles), according to the Brazilian Motor Vehicle Manufacturers Association (Anfavea). Meanwhile, in the first three months of this year, the country's motor vehicle output (excluding agricultural vehicles) decreased by 8.4 percent year on year to 789,855 units.

New motor vehicle registrations (excluding agricultural vehicles) in Brazil totaled 240,808 units in March this year, decreasing by 7.1 percent month on month and down 15.2 percent year on year. 16.5 percent of this figure consisted of imported new vehicles. In the first three months of the current year, the country's new motor vehicle registrations (excluding agricultural vehicles) decreased by 2.1 percent year on year to 812,754 units.

Meanwhile, Brazil's motor vehicle exports in March this year (excluding agricultural vehicles) totaled 23,408 units, decreasing by 18.8 percent compared to the previous month and down 46.2 percent year on year. In the January-March period this year, Brazil's motor vehicle exports totaled 75,049 units, down 32.7 percent year on year.

Meanwhile, in March the revenue generated by Brazilian motor vehicle exports (excluding agricultural vehicles) decreased by 3.1 percent month on month to $733.69 million, declining by 30.2 percent year on year. In the first three months of the current year, in Brazil the revenue generated by motor vehicle exports (excluding agricultural vehicles) decreased by 18.4 percent year on year to $2.18 billion.
