David Price Food Services Entered Administration with Putting More Than 100 Jobs at Risk

David Price Food Services, a chilled and frozen foods supplier, has entered administration, putting more than 100 jobs at risk.

The company stated that it appointed Howard Smith and Mark Firmin of KPMG's restructuring practice as joint administrators, and this appointment came with poor trading and an increased cost base, primarily due to fuel and utilities costs.

David Price Food comprises a cold storage division, with facilities in Wallsend and Glasgow which were acquired by Ice Company Distribution following the appointment of administrators, saving 29 jobs.

The chilled haulage division has stopped trading with immediate effect and five employees at the Wallsend head office will be retained to assess with the administration.

The operations were based at six depots in Bristol, Bury St Edmunds, Glasgow, Gillingham, South Kirby (Yorkshire) and Wrexham.

For the year ended 25 August 2012, David Price Food posted a pre-tax loss of £686,000 on sales of £13.8m.
