In one body I am the mum of a toddler, a kid that won't grow up, and a toy reviewer. So when they announce the toys that will be making Santa's lists this year, it's like I'm Meryl Streep when they announce the Oscar nominations – it's a big day. I look at what I'll be buying my kid, what I'll be buying for me, and what I'll be crossing my fingers and toes that the stores will be sending me to review – and this year I think the Toy Insider lists have missed the mark.
Now, I know it's only September and a lot of the toys I'm anticipating are still to be released, but nothing so far is set to have me going all 'Jingle all the way' and squealing with glee as 'Let's Rock Elmo' and 'Kiddizoom Twist' did last year. Where's the Furby? Where's Jake the Pirate? Where's K'Nex Angry Birds?!
Don't get me wrong – there are some VERY cool toys on Toy Insider's Lists. The digital needs are covered for all ages with the Wii U Gamepad, Leapfrog's LeapPad kids' tablet, and the Kurio7 (OK, the ToyHype office is a little excited by the Gamepad…). While the one that's sure to cause the most slightly-tipsy-relative-injuries on December 25th is the Y flikr 3-wheel scooter.
