CITEVE Is Planning to Take Anthropometric Measurements in Portugal

The Technological Centre for Textile and Clothing Industries of Portugal (CITEVE) and Textile and Clothing Association of Portugal (ATP) would jointly undertake a project ‘Let’s take steps to Portuguese’ for taking anthropometric measurements of the Portuguese citizens.
 
The project SIZING-SUDOE is an initiative undertaken to measure a sample of 1,000 men and 1,000 women, aged between 18 and 65, distributed in a representative manner by different age groups and in different areas of the country.
 
According to the CITEVE website, the project is an opportunity for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to have a deeper understanding of the target audience and define sizes best suited to the body of people and create clothing personalization systems.
 
One of the major reasons for people not buying garments made by Portuguese firms is inadequate and disproportionate sizes, and the new measurements and subsequent anthropometric study of the population would address this problem, the website states.
 
The 3D measurements would be taken with the help of a body scanner enclosed in a cabin for privacy.
 
Once the measurements are taken and compiled into a database, the results would be sent to clothing companies and would act as an advisory service to improve the design and fit of clothing.
 
The project would be financed by the Territorial Cooperation Program, and IMPETUS would provide the innerwear for people to use during the measurements along with discount coupons for the brand.
