Raw Steel Production Rises for Fourth Consecutive Week in The US

The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reported Monday that US raw steel production rose 1.2 percent in the week ending April 13, following a 2.1 percent jump the previous week, as well as increases in the two prior weeks.

Total raw steel production in the United States amounted to 1,880,000 net tons (nt) last week, representing a 1.2 percent increase from the 1,858,000 nt produced in the previous week but 6.7 percent less than the 2,014,000 nt produced during the same week a year ago.

The capacity utilization rate of US raw steelmaking facilities was 78.5 percent in the week ending April 13, compared to 77.6 percent in the previous week and 80.9 percent in the same week last year.
