Guala Closures Group is set to unveil new aluminum smart closure with near field communication (NFC) technology at the Unified Wine & Grape Symposium in the US.
The event will take place from 23 to 25 January in Sacramento, California.
The NFC tag, which is based on NTAG NFC technology, is saved in the cap and helps wine brand owner in marketing data acquisition, logistic, track and trace applications.
The tag will allow end user to verify the authentic bottle certification and engage with the brand.
In 2016, Guala Closures Group collaborated with NXP Semiconductors for the development of next generation closure solutions for the wine and spirits industry.
The closures with NFC technology will help to protect the authenticity and integrity of branded products, allowing to reduce the risks for both beverage manufacturers and consumers.
Featuring an opening detection and logging technology, the NFC-enabled closures can be used in anti-counterfeit and tamper-evident applications and monitoring.
The technology allows to avoid an unauthorized opening of the bottle and verify the genuine provenance and integrity of the product through any NFC enabled mobile device and pertinent application
Guala Closures is engaged in the development of advanced and safety closures for the wine and spirits industry. With around 4000 employees, the company operates 25 production facilities across five continents.
