According to statistics, Korea’s production of steel products totaled 72.91 million tons in 2012, up by 0.9% year on year.
In 2012, the country’s crude steel production increased slightly by 1.3% year on year to 69.4 million tons.
Korea’s steel production grew slowly in these two years due to global economic crisis.
It’s analyzed that Korea’s steel exports to the US, Southeast Asia and Middle East improved but the domestic steel market remained sluggish in 2012.
The country’s steel exports rose by 4.6% while domestic sales dipped by 10.2%.
