South Korean auto maker Kia Motors has launched its new KX-4 version of the Sportage that features a higher output turbodiesel engine for the UK market.

The new Sportage KX-4 is equipped with an 181bhp 2.0-litre CRDi turbodiesel engine mated to a choice of six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmissions and an intelligent all-wheel drive system.

The new car offers 383Nm of torque between 1,800rpm and 2,500rpm in manual and up to 392Nm in automatic versions.

It is equipped with a revised variable geometry turbocharger, higher pressure piezo injectors and tuned software mapping that helps provide a 47bhp increase over the existing model.

According to the company, the new KX-4 completes the 0-60mph in 9.4 seconds and with the six-speed manual transmission it can reach a top speed of 120mph.

CO2 emissions for the manual edition are rated at 158g/kg and 46.3mpg in the combined cycle, while the automatic hits 189g/kg and 39.2mpg.

The KX-4 comes fitted a full-leather interior, 18-inch alloys, sat-nav, Xenon headlights, cruise control, climate control and a panoramic sunroof - and adds park assist, front and rear parking sensors, keyless entry and stainless steel scuff plates.

The intelligent electronically-controlled single high ratio system equipped in the car continuously monitors driving conditions and anticipates when AWD will be needed ensuring Sportage is always in the correct drive mode for the prevailing circumstances.
