Nissan has unveiled a revamped version of its LEAF electric vehicle in Japan equipping it with new powertrain.
The new vehicle is claimed to give a 12% more mileage and will be 30% more compact and 10% lighter than earlier model, while the vehicle will be equipped with a system which will inform drivers how long the battery can last.
In addition to reduction in power consumption and the updated vehicle has been added with more efficient regenerative brake-control system.
Nissan chief vehicle engineer Hidetoshi Kadota said effort has been made to extend the cruising range.
"The most salient feature is the car's weight, which has been reduced by 80 kilograms," Kadota said.
Electric power train of the vehicle has been updated by integrating electric motor, inverter and DC/DC converter to make it more compact.
The updated model will have 12% more luggage space and will be equipped with company's Around View Monitor system.
Company's revamped models will be available in three trims and claim to offer a range of 228 km.
