Japan based - Sumitomo Chemical Co. is operating its caprolactam (CPL) plant at reduced rates.
“The CPL plant is currently operating at 50-70% of production capacity, as demand has gone down,” a Sumitomo official told fibre2fashion. He further informed that a maintenance turnaround is going to take place in November this year and the plant would remain off-stream for around 40 days.
Located at Niihama in Ehime prefecture in Japan, the CPL plant comprises two lines with production capacities of 100,000 mt/year and 80,000 mt/year.
