Carr's Flour Mills Plans to Invest £17m to Build a Wheat Mill in Kirkcaldy

Carr's Flour Mills plans to invest £17m to build a wheat mill in Kirkcaldy,Scotland,as a part of its plan to strengthen its flour business.

The mill will be located near the company's old flour mill in Kirkcaldy.According to Carr's Flour,the new facility will follow best practices related to food safety.In addition,the new equipment at the mill will enable the company to comply with strict food safety standards.

Carr's Flour plans to use the recently reopened Kirkcaldy port to import wheat.This move is expected to ensure constant wheat supplies and reduce road miles,reported Foodmanufacture.co.uk.

The investment for the project has come from the parent company Carr's Milling and a Regional Selective Assistance grant from the Scottish Enterprise.The construction of the mill is expected to be completed in 2013.

Carr's distributes flour to supermarkets'in-store bakeries,bread and biscuit manufacturers,and private bakery businesses.
