Seafresh Products Enters Into a Guilty Plea and Fined for Violating Inspection Regulations

Canada-based Seafresh Products Distributors has entered into a guilty plea and has been fined for violating fish inspection regulations.

According to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency(CFIA),Seafresh Products Distributors violated the regulation which states that no person shall export fish unless all the processing and storage of the fish is carried out in a registered establishment.

The agency noted that its investigation revealed that between 22 May and 7 June 2010,Seafresh Products Distributors Incorporated unlawfully exported live prawns from Canada without the processing being carried out in a registered establishment.

Seafresh Products Distributors was imposed a total fine of$2000(1,967.65 for the violation.

The CFIA enforces federal legislation including the Fish Inspection Act and its Regulations.It safeguards food,animals and plants.
