The Dow Launched Its New Peelable Heat Seal Coating Technology Adcote Hs 40-555

The Dow Chemical's Adhesives & Functional Materials business has launched its new peelable heat seal coating technology Adcote HS 40-555 for polyester lidding film applications.

According to the company, the new technology has been specifically designed for lidding film sealing to APET and CPET-based fully recyclable fresh food and ready meal containers.

The technology enables converters to obtain the flexibility to coat PET peelable films while benefiting from improved coating stability, better processability and affordability.

Dow's Adcote HS 40-555 is said to provide better sealability on various types of PET containers while maintaining a good peelability, enabling easy opening by consumers.

The company claims that its new technology, which reduces environmental impact of the final packaging, has good optical clarity with low haze.

Dow Adhesives and Functional Materials senior marketing manager EMEA Margherita Fontana said the company keeps focusing on improving its product offering to meet the specific industry needs.

"The introduction of this new heat seal coating underpins our commitment to the packaging industry with solutions that help address the needs of converters and brand owners for improved seal and packaging performance while enhancing consumer convenience," added Fontana.

ADCOTE HS 40-555 can be coated on the polyester film directly. The coating runs well on the existing gravure coating machine without any issues and the film is block resistant up to a temperature of 40°C.
