Vietnam Is Considering The Removal of a 15 Percent Export Duty on Stainless Steel Scrap

The Vietnamese government is considering the removal of a 15 percent export duty on stainless steel scrap to reduce the financial burden on domestic stainless steelmakers, according to media reports.

The government also is mulling a zero tax rate for one of the country's leading stainless steel manufacturers, POSCO VST Company, said Asia News Network, a network of Asian daily newspapers. Currently, there are no stainless steel furnaces in Vietnam, with stainless steel scrap thus having to be exported to other countries to be refined.
