Pakistan's iron and steel scrap imports amounted to 180,125 mt in August this year, increasing 15 percent compared to July and up seven percent year on year, according to data released by the Pakistan Federal Bureau of Statistics (PFBS). The value of the iron and steel scrap imports in August was $71.4 million, rising 15.3 percent compared to July this year and up 23 percent compared to the same month of 2012.
Meanwhile, Pakistan's iron and steel imports in August amounted to 100,500 mt, decreasing by 31 percent on year-on-year basis and down 7.1 percent compared to the previous month. In the period in question, the value of Pakistan's iron and steel imports was $72.9 million, falling 36.1 percent year on year.
