Spanish company Nylstar which specialises in the production of premium polyamide yarns and fabrics and is known worldwide for its brand Meryl has signed a collaboration agreement with another Spanish fabric maker Puntiblond to promote Meryl fabrics and yarns.
According to the agreement, Nylstar has started operating Puntiblond’s plant in Sant Pere de Vilamajor in Barcelona since May 1. It will maintain Puntiblond's customers and has guaranteed the future of 40 jobs, Nylstar said in a statement.
With this agreement, Nylstar will be able to extend its premium sports and fashion fabric range. The fabrics made at Vilamajor will maintain the well known qualities of Meryl fabrics that are known for comfort, elasticity, sun protection, dust and bacteria repellant and moisture management.
Puntiblond, founded in 1947, is one of the leading European companies in stretch and control polyamide fabrics for lingerie, swimwear and sportswear, with a monthly production capacity of 100 tonnes.
Nylstar was founded in 1923 and its fibers and fabrics are well known in the sportwear and womenswear market. Nylstar regained exclusive control of its brand Meryl in late 2013 and has been strengthening its marketing and commercial structure since.
Meryl Fabrics is Nylstar's fabric division, leaded by Raimon Pagés and dedicated to producing fashion and sports fabrics.
