Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. announced its CS3 Touring tire has earned a 2013 Good Design Award for innovation and quality. The company introduced the mid-range touring tire in June 2013.
The award was presented by the Chicago Anthenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and the European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies. Cooper says it is one of 700 recipients of the award selected from several thousands of entries from more than 48 countries.
The Good Design Award program recognizes new consumer products designed and manufactured in Europe, Asia, Africa, and North and South America. The award is based on criteria including the level of innovation, form, materials, construction, concept, function and quality as well as product appearance and aesthetic appeal.
Cooper says the CS3 Touring tire is an all-season tire featuring the company's Stabiledge technology, which is designed to enhance dry handling stability, crisper steering response and improve overall ride comfort.
The company says the tire's 3D micro-gauge siping improves handling and control and a new five-rib tread pattern provides improved wet and light snow traction, a smooth, quiet ride and even-wearing, long-lasting tread life. In addition, the CS3 is one of the lightest tires in its class, which translates to increased fuel efficiency.
"Receiving the acclaimed 2013 Good Design Award for our new CS3 Touring tire is further third-party validation that the work Cooper has been doing to create innovative, quality products that perform is being recognized," says Scott Jamieson, director of product marketing.
