Giga Solar Materials, a Taiwan-based PV conductive paste maker, on August 29 announced the investment of JPY5.0 billion (US$51.0 million) to establish a ground-mounted PV power-generating station with an annual capacity of 17MWp in Fukushima Prefecture, northeastern Japan, with completion scheduled for the end of 2014. The investment will be made through its Japan-based subsidiary.
Giga Solar on August 29 signed with Japan-based Tsuboi to establish the PV station, Giga Solar indicated. The station will generate an estimated 20 million kWh a year for use by about 5,000 local households. The power will be sold at a feed-in tariff of JPY42/kWh for 20 years, Giga Solar said.
Giga Solar will supply PV conductive pastes to make solar cells for the station, the company indicated.
