Shimano is continuing as a sponsor of this month's North American Handmade Bicycle Show and will use the show to promote its Alfine internal gear components, including its Alfine Di2 electronic shifting parts. The company also is supporting the Gates Carbon Drive contest at the show, being held in Denver this year.

“Shimano is excited to support NAHBS because it is the primary event for these craftsmen to show off these one-of-a-kind bikes that push the bounds of creativity and possibilities with our products,” said Dustin Brady, marketing manager for Shimano. “We’re happy to support NAHBS as the show continues to grow and bring these pieces of art to a new city every year and further expand the culture of cycling.”

Shimano has offered attending framebuilders special show pricing for its Alfine mechanical and Alfine Di2 electronic components so they can use the parts on show bikes.

The Gates Carbon Drive Contest  offers over $11,000 in cash and prizes to builders at NAHBS for the best integration of Gates Carbon Drive and the Alfine mechanical system. Five winners will be crowned in the Belt Drive Bike Design Contest that is done in partnership with Shimano.
