Russian Will Organize The 1st Industry Forum for The Russian Textile Industry

The Russian Union of Entrepreneurs of Textile and Light Industry, with the support of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, will organize the 1st International Industry Forum for the ‘Russian Textile Industry: the Past and the Present – Legpromforum'2014’ in Moscow on April 22-23, 2014.

The idea of holding the Forum resulted from the necessity to join the efforts of business community, public authorities, industrial unions, and public associations toward support and development of the Russian textile industry in terms of the common economic space and adapting to WTO, the organizers said.

The participants in the Forum will discuss strategic objectives of the industry development and come up with measures aimed at developing industrial potential of the textile sector in Russia, upgrading the textile enterprises, supporting effective production projects, and ensuring their attraction as an investment.

Representatives of the textile industry enterprises from 20 subjects of the Russian Federation, business communities, federal and regional legal and executive authorities, as well as representatives of foreign companies are expected to take part in the Forum, that is being organized on the sidelines of Inlegmash’2014—Russia’s largest exhibition for textile manufacturing and processing.

‘LEGPROMforum 2014’ will discuss the most pressing issues of the sector: increasing its competitiveness, the state support, the priorities of the industry, upgrading the technological base of light industry enterprises, improvement of tax legislation, measures to combat counterfeiting and smuggling, adaptation to the conditions of work in the WTO, the consolidation of professional community, etc.

The textile industry in Russia employs around 400,000 people, with 75 percent of them being women.
