First announced back in February, Nintendo has unveiled the first batch of content coming as part of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild expansion pass.
Set to debut on Nintendo Switch and Wii U this summer, the upcoming content drop will contain new modes, locations and costumes to play about with.
One of the coolest new features is the addition of a smart map. This tracks exactly where you’ve been in Hyrule, making it far easier to highlight locations you’ve yet to explore. Check it out in action below.
Another new item known as a ‘travel medallion’ allows you to select any point on the map as a fast travel point. You’ll have to discover it in a chest first, though.
In terms of new modes, we can look forward to a hard difficulty setting and Trial of the Sword.
The latter is essentially a horde mode where Link will face off against increasingly difficult waves of enemies. Starting with no weapons or clothing, you’ll need to get creative to stand a chance of winning.
Hard Mode means enemies are tougher than ever. They also slowly regain health in the midst of encounters. Knowing this, a strategy must be formulated to take them out as quickly as possible.
Link will also have a variety of new masks and outfits to choose from inspired from past Zelda titles. Majora’s Mask, Twilight Princess, Wind Waker are more will be featured.
A software update for Breath of the Wild has been released that enables the game to be played in Japanese with English subtitles. Those looking for an authentic experience should love this new addition.
