German fine chocolate producer Vivani, which is an arm of EcoFinia, has selected NatureFlex films, developed by Innovia Films, to wrap its iChoc bars.
iChoc, stated to be the latest range of Vegan Chocolate, was launched at BioFach and ISM earlier this year. Vivani iChoc has four varieties: White Nougat Crisp, Choco Cookie, White Vanilla and Almond Orange.
Its ingredients are claimed to be 100% organic, and contain rice milk in place of cows' milk. The products are also touted to be free from artificial colors or emulsifiers.
The packaging for iChoc will be put up for display at Fachpack 2015, slated to be held between 29 September and 1 October in Germany.
Innovia Films sales account manager Joachim Janz said: "NatureFlex NK is the ideal choice for this application as it provides not only the necessary barrier required for chocolate, but also offers good machinability for packing. Customers now have the option of using a compostable non-metallised packaging film to keep their products in premium condition."
Transparent NatureFlex NK film has been derived from renewable and compostable cellulose, including wood pulp. The film is claimed to shield the chocolate from Mineral Oil (MOSH/MOAH), aroma and water vapor by acting as a barrier.
Vivani iChoc managing director Andreas Meyer said: "We have put a lot of value on this. Organic ingredients, fair wages for the supplier and packaging from renewable resources are intrinsically linked with Vivani iChoc alongside production in a strictly Vegan way."
