In January-May this year, total gross profits of the ferrous metal smelting, rolling and processing sector in China were up 34.28 percent year on year, as announced by China's National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC). In the given period, total gross profits of the ferrous metal mining sector in China were up 7.8 percent year on year, while the gross profits of the coal mining and dressing sector in China were down 43.87 percent compared to the same period of last year.
Meanwhile, in the January-May period total gross profits of the fabricated metal products sector, automobile sector, general equipment manufacturing sector and special equipment manufacturing sector in China were respectively up 21.82 percent, 19.97 percent, 12.35 percent and 1.93 percent year on year. In January-May, the total gross profits of the railway, ship, aerospace and transportation machinery and equipment manufacturing sector in China decreased by 1.32 percent year on year. In the first five months of this year, the gross profit to sales ratio of the ferrous metal smelting, rolling and processing sector in China was still very low, at only 1.31 percent. In the given period, the gross profit to sales ratio of the ferrous metal mining sector in China was 8.58 percent. In January-May, the gross profit to sales ratios of the automobile manufacturing sector, coal mining and dressing sector, special equipment manufacturing sector, general equipment manufacturing sector, fabricated metal products sector, and the railway, ship, aerospace and transportation machinery and equipment manufacturing sector were respectively 8.06 percent, 6.9 percent, 6.22 percent, 5.95 percent, 4.71 percent and 4.57 percent.In the first five months of this year, 23.73 percent of coal mining and dressing enterprises in China recorded net losses, up 6.62 percent compared to the same period of 2012.
